    C1 Instrument wiring

On my '61 there is a condenser or resistor attached to the back of the instrumunt cluster near the ammeter. (A) What does it do? (B) Where does the other terminal attach? Thanks.

Right, one end to gnd on the cluster, the other end to the ammeter terminal closest to the oil gauge. Only there with radio equipment.

        Rich,
I'm not at the garage right now. Is that the terminal with the 4 red wires or the other one? Thanks again for your help.

Hi Richard, The Aim Sec 102 pg 3 shows the capacitor going to the terminal closest to the oil gauge, which in reality is the one with the 12g Red wires. Also note that the Aim has the red vs black wiring reversed on the ammeter diagram(Sec 12 pg 11).

              In review...
Black band wire to instrument panel ground...The capacitors other wire may attach to either the red or black wire(s) and funtion properly. Black wire from the starter is on the driver's side...Red wires on the passenger side. The 7270568 capacitor is effective in fringe AM reception areas, and mask current surge transients assocated with turning headlights on/off and the dimmer switch.
