is a 55 3 speed the same as a 56 3 speed? a friend is restoring a 55 and it has a 56 3 speed in it with a hurst shifter. he wants to put it back right. where can i find a 55 3 speed and shifter?

good! all i need now is a shifter. i thought it was hard to find 57 parts until i started looking at 55 parts. not much out there.Comment

wait till ya start looking for the shifter bezel with the shift pattern thereon. i think the 56 up 3 speed shifter will work in a 55. good luck. btw, what is the approx VIN of the 55 you're working on? not many 55's came with std shift and it wasn't available early on. mikeComment

I had #224 what Noland showed in his book having a 3 speed , I also have the tunnel piece and 3 speed plate.
Any #number 55 can have a 3 speed most were dealer added
all Corvette C1 3 speeds shifter will work handle is different

the vin is ve55s001102. i think it is a february car. are those parts pictured for sale? i sure need them. could this car be an original 3 speed? this car is the elvis car. the one said to be owned by elvis. yellow/green. anyone heard this story?Comment
