"Original 56-60 soft top weatherstripping question

Has any one seen a original soft top weatherstripping , one piece long starting from the left side window center area to the right side window center area , It would be a soft sponge "thick" rubber having a round filler so that you cant see the screws , cloth covered side window pieces continual's around the header corners area about 1 in. It's never been repro'ed . Most soft tops restored today have the later second design used in 60#? to 62, which is the reason most leak and is difficult to latch the header to the windshield and level the side window soft top assy on early C1. The second design soft top assy was redesigned causing a second design weatherstripping 60#? to 62. This is the reason most 56 to 60#? C1's have trouble fitting the top assy.

I think most people now know there was TWO design latch's ( soft top only and hard top only design's) using the wrong latch can cause difficultly latching the header

Not sure what part you are talking about. I have a weatherstrip part number 3814213 still in the box. Any idea what this weatherstrip is for?

Ed, my 53-72 parts book shows 3814213 as being a 53-62 deck lid weatherstrip, 160" long, cut as required.

To help Roy find the answer here ia a pic out of the parts book. The 2 forward side w/strips(cloth covered) were bonded to the sponge rubber front header w/strip at the corners as a one piece unit. I also have a keen interest in this as I haven't seen the "real thing" either and have been trying to replicate them for my 59. There must be some originals out there somewhere. The part# from the 29-59 parts book is 3736171, for a whopping $12.95.
