I've had a couple of new owner asking me why their engine gets hot climbing hills or in traffic stating the engine was rebuilt. One guy changed out the water pump, radiator, even had the head removed again looking for cracks.
I wrote many years ago that when you have the engine rebuilt be sure they know it's a Corvette not a car engine telling them NOT to install the large freeze plug at the engine front area because Corvette water pump was lowered to clear the upper Radiator hose . Car did have the large plug but NOT corvette, some shops will add it thinking thier doing a Car engine. (see spacer plate) . If any one reading this has this problem over heating , just remove the pump only and look in to the spacer to see that it's not installed .
