    Individual Wiring Terminals & Connectors...?

I've seen a number of electrical supply sources that offer complete wiring harnesses for my '74. Is anyone aware of any electrical supply sources that offer individual terminals and connectors from this era?

    Yes/no...

The individual connectors used on wiring harness components were almost always supplied by Packard Electric (a former subsidiary of GM). Over the years many of these were replaced with functional 'improvements' in one form or another (slightly different configuration, different color, different base plastic composition). You can sometimes find the correct/original (IF you know what you're looking for) at various Delco licensed distributors/repair shops, OR from other GM cars/trucks of the same era in the scrap yards.

Those who specialize in offering 'correct/original' reproduction wiring harness products (e.g. M&H Fabricators, Lectric Limited, Etc.) have generally paid GM a license fee and either buy from Packard in bulk (often 20K pieces per order) to get the original connectors (IF the tooling is still in existence) OR they've gone off and re-tooled the part somewhere (Far East, Mexico, Etc.) to make what they sell.

Generally, these folks are NOT interested in selling 1-3 individual connectors because it's simply a nuissance to process the order (costs them more book, pull, ship than it's worth). But, they're more than willing to sell you a complete harness assy/sub-assy that's in their catalog.

You have to put yourself in their place. They've sweated the details to give us products that get as close as we're going to get today and they simply don't have a place in their product portfolio for selling 1-5 cent parts to help folks 'restore' their 'butchered' original harness assy's....

I have gone boneyard shopping and removed the as much of a wiring harness as I could, from the same year GM car, just to get the fittings. You will also find this handy to use the color coded wire to use for testing purposes. But, if there is very many issues with your wiring harness, just replace it.

Waytek wire is a few miles away from me and they sell the Packard Series 56 connectors in male and female. I think minimum order is 35 pieces, which might be a little over 5 bucks. Below is a link that should take you to the connectors, or www.waytekwire.com search for packard series 56

Bob, thanks for the lead on Waytek Wire. In an off-line discussion, I found out about another company by the name of AUVECO. I was able to order GM Pack-Con 1 Series terminals that are part of the seatbelt wiring harness that plugs into the Logic Module on my '74, and also GM 59 Series Terminals (12 gauge) for two of the leads that connect to my seat belt override button. What was even better, they had a distributor located in the CT town I live in. Ray

Try Eagle Wire, they were at the NCRS Florida event. Bought some well priced.
