With reference to the part and date code stamp on an 1100900 alternator for a 1970 454, the NCRS manual states that "On 454 engines equipped with power steering this stamp was on the underside of the alternator."
I found a vendor with a correct and date appropriate alternator, however, the part# and date are stamped near the threaded upper bracket mounting ear, which is on the top of the alternator. The vendor said that all of the stamps for this era car were in that location and that perhaps the NCRS manual is making reference to the clocking of the front half of the case relative to the rear half.
Can anyone shed some light on this? Thank you.
