    Trans rebuild/refresh

Can anyone recommend a proven shop in the mid-atlantic/Wash. D.C. area who could inspect and if necessary rebuild my Muncie. If rebuild is necessary and I provide the parts who carries the highest quility parts. I understand a lot of Chinese stuff is floating around out there. I'm not having any problems, it's just got 184K miles and I'll be pulling the engine and trans to clean things up...now is the time.
    Thanks, Dennis

Ed Hartnett who is located in Pennsylvania is going to be your best bet, as far as I'm concerned. Unfortunately, I don't have Ed's number handy, but if no one else posts it, I'll post it this evening.

As far as parts go, virtually all Muncie parts are now discontinued from GM. The only things left are small parts, bearings and gaskets. The replacement Delco bearings are usually of "foreign" manufacture. If of Japanese manufacture, they'll be about the best bearings in the world.

Dennis, I just made a recent post stating I sell a Muncie Rebuild Guide called EasyStep I sell on EBAY. It sells for a flat rate of $25. shipping included. The Muncie is very simple to rebuild, even if you have minimum mechanical ability. You could also learn something and save yourself a lot of money. I have hundreds of satisfied customers. I will send Ed's number and some parts sources. If you are willing to ship to the Atlanta area I would consider rebuilding it for you for $250. Average small parts (bearings, syncronizers, gaskets, clips) rebuild kit cost $155.
