I'm interested in finding out the allocation of 1971 LT1 coupes versus convertibles and the source of this information. Thanks in advance for help with this inquiry.

There is no definitive source for that kind of information. Estimates are all that exist. Most are computed by taking the total number of cars built, the total number of LT-1's built and then applying the percentage calculated to the number of convertibles built and the number of coupes built. That provides only a rough estimate, but I think it's as close as you can get. GM kept no records of combination of options. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Joe:
As you suggest, I doubt a definitive breakdown of 1971 LT1 production of convertibles versus coupes and according to color combinations was ever recorded and made public by Chevrolet. I looked through my Corvette library to no avail; but, I was hoping the information was available. I think your method of guesstimating the numbers is about as good a method as possible.
As always, your help and contribution to this discussion board are most appreciated.
Thanks,
