60 hood latchs

hello,what is the best way to clean hood latchs,carb linkage and other parts under hood that aren't plated or painted thanks.mike

Mike, Here's my thoughts.......

I'm not sure if anything(steel) is not plated or painted. Hood latches are plated, as well as carb linkage. Carter did nickel plating on misc carb linkages I think. GM rod linkages were plated. Over the years I have removed them and just cleaned in a parts cleaner solution using degreasers(Simple Green, Castrol Super Clean etc). Try not to use wire brushes and rotary wire wheels as this will remove any plating if it still exits. If you're going for flight judging in the future you may want to consider having these things replated if there's time.
