    1966 Wiper Arm

My driver side wiper arm went sproing! The small pin holding the spring which puts pressure on the arm and holds it to the windshield let loose. I was able to fit it back in but it didn't last long and it let go again, with the pin disappearing. The problem apears to be the small piece that holds the pin. It has become misshapen.

Does anyone know if this is a repairable item? Are there any recommended people or firms out there who can make the fix? If not, does anyone have experience with the reproduction arms being advertised in the NCRS Driveline from corvetteusa.com?

Mike - I'm quite sure it can be repaired. Sounds like the base piece where the pin fits in is broken and will have to be replaced.

Personally, I don't think the reproduction wiper arms match up to the originals but they are probably functionally OK. I'm not overly impressed with their Ad that says the Corvette wiper arms are the only wiper arms with the adjusting screw. The Ad seems misleading to me because many early 1960 Chevrolet wiper arms had that feature and I contacted them about it and the Ad hasn't changed. I'm off my soapbox now.

    Good luck.

      Mike,
I had the same thing happen to my 67 last year. I live close to Paragon and took it to them and they repaired in 30 minutes while I waited. I think it cost $40 or $45. Give them a call.

Here's a link to a picture of the wiper arm. Note the damage to the pin boss area. This is what I believe needs to be fixed somehow.

Mike - Looks to me that the fix is to replace the base piece. Also, I don't see the metal piece that attaches to the spring on one end and the pin on the other. If that metal piece is missing or broken, please note that there are different metal pieces used on various TRICO wiper arms and the Corvette piece is stamped with the number 10. Pete
