My first post so be kind. I recently purchased a split window with repro knock offs. I want to assemble a set of wheels/tires for NCRS judging. It seems that all the steel repro rims are 15x6 while the correct rim is 15x5.5. Once tires are mounted is the extra width detectable? Are the raised nubs on the original rims by the valve stem visible once wheelcovers are installed? Are powder coated rims acceptable? I suspect some of this may be covered in the Judging Manual but it has not been available since I bough the car and I may have located the correct pieces. I am trying to avoid an expensive mistake. Thanks.

Re: C2 Steel Rims
Mark, the big difference in the 63/64 wheels is the back side. The later disc brake type wheels have a angled step on the back to clear the disc rotor. 63 will have an gentle angle sloping towards the wheel center. Hard to describe but there are several on Ebay. Expect to pay dearly for them.

Re: C2 Steel Rims
Mark,
If you go into the archives section you can use key words like rim or wheel 1963 and get some good information that has been posted in the past about these wheels. You did right by asking before spending and the discussion board is full of helpful people. The 1963/64 rims are difficult to come by but once you see one they are not hard to identify.- Top

Re: C2 Steel Rims
Mark you are looking for wheel info. Corvettes never did use rims. The rim is just the part that the tire mounts onto. You are looking for wheel info, the rim is attached to the center which makes it a wheel.Big trucks and heavy equipment sometimes use rims, and some very old cars used them, but not corvettes.Tom- Top
