Re: Joe part # ?
Joe I am not sure if it is a correct part# or not. I am taking what someone read off the back of a part. It may just be a casting #. That is why I wanted to run it by you. I was looking for a # 10055781 and the seller gave me this #.Thanks Tom- Top

Re: Joe part # ?
Tom-----
OK, now I think I know what the story is. The number is actually GM #10108590 and NOT 10108500. As a matter of fact, the "9" in the part number often does look a little bit like a "0" because it's often a little "blurred". The GM #10108590 is the part number for the 1992 LT1 only left side valve cover. This cover is unique to 1992 because it has no emblem, but, rather, a smooth surface where the emblem would be for earlier covers. The configuration is such, though, that one could not make an earlier cover out of this one simply by adding the emblem. At least, you could not make a cover that would fool anyone "in-the-know" that it was an earlier cover. I am pretty sure that the GM #10055781 cover does have the 10055781 number embossed on the underside, probably in conjunction with the 10055782 number. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Most likely, there will be multiple part numbers on it. These things usually have the part numbers of ALL the various covers that were made from the same casting. The actual casting number is usually not shown (this is "opposite" from how many cast parts were identified).
Are you sure the emblem has not just been applied to the flat surface on the LT1 cover? As I recall, the earlier covers had a cast ridge surrounding the emblem. If it has this and it's centerbolt style, it almost has to be the correct cover you're looking for.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
