Arrived Tuesday in Richmond, Va. The Restorer has some great articles like the Restorers' of old on cars that we restore and judge. I vote Vinnie Peters for editor.

Two days ago, on I-10 outside of New Orleans, a USPS truck overturned and caught fire destroying a truckload of parcels and mail headed to the main distribution point in New Orleans. Don't know if the restorer was involved but it doesn't look good for mail in our area. Just another thing to deal with after Katrina.

NCRS, please read the above posts. It's clear to me and I think most others that we need an internet (or email) version of the Restorer and Driveline. In this way, all members get the opportunities to read the info at the same time. What about it, guys??
unless the are sent 1st class they could lay at the post office for days till they get all the 1st class mail delivered. i had relations who were post masters and i had talked to them about getting my magazines late and they told me this is the case with bulk rate postage. 1st class get priority
As a matter of fact I usually see my mail carrier after 2PM. I am at the end of his route and I have received my mail as late as 7 PM. His usual delivery time is 4 to 5PM, and this time of year he wears a (literally) headlamp so he can read the addresses on the mail. We won't go into how often he delivers someone elses mail to me.
Our mail arrival time is dependent on whether the regular carrier is on duty or on leave...if he's working, we get the mail around 10:30 AM; if he's on leave, and a newbie is working, then it's going to be middle to late afternoon, sometimes as late as 5 PM. But...seldom after 5:00 PM, which would probably mean paid OT.
UPS must deliver until their truck is empty...well after dark; maybe as late as 8PM. Not true for the USPS...On those days when we don't get a single bulk rate item, I suspect the newbie had to quit before finishing the route. I think the USPS slogan here is "No mail is so important it can't be delivered manana".
