    65 roadster block ID

Block #CL13190547. The guy I bought the car from said he got the motor from GM after he blew up the stock motor around 1970. Thank You. Curt.

    Curtis-----

I think what you're referring to is the number stamped on the block stamp pad and not a block casting number. I also expect that what appears to be "CL" is likely "CE" which is a common block stamp pad prefix for replacement engines during the 60's and early 70's. So, I'd say that what he told you is just what actually happened. What is the casting number on the block (found on the bellhousing upper flange on the driver's side---look behind and down from the driver side cylinder head)?

Thank you Joe, From what I can see the # is 3858512 or 3959512. It is very hard to tell if it is # 8 or 9. Can you also tell if its a 365 HP as I was told. Thank You again Joe. Curt.

        Curtis -

The 3959512 block casting was used almost exclusively as a service replacement, very commonly seen on "CE" replacement 327 short blocks. The "CE" number gives no clue as to the innards; they were ordered by part number (which doesn't appear anywhere on the engine) to match the innards of the short block to the original application, with all the usable bolt-on parts to be transferred from the failed engine. No way to tell for sure what's inside it without disassembly.
