    M 20 stamping

the trans that came with the car has the correct part # on the case and on the tail housing but no stamping on the mid plate between the shift linkage ???? would ths trans have been a gm replacement ??? my carb for instance is a replacement right holly # right gm # right metering block ## but the date is may 68 ... it is suppose to be a gm service replacement . if the trans was a gm replacement shoud it not have a instal or mfg date on it like the carb????

    Re: M 20 stamping

The Trans ID stampings are generally on the side on the main case, foreward of the mid-plate. Bare cases could be obtained thru service to replace a damaged case, and would not be dated. A complete trans purchased as a unit would have been dated.
