C1 Paint questions

Hi all,

Could someone tell me the wheel well paint/undercoating finish for inside of wheel wells. Also best brand to use.

Also, are the radiator fins supposed to be painted or left unfinished. If painted, what color and best brand of paint to use.

One other question - on my radiator hoses, there were previously newer style clamps used. We have changed those clamps with original corbin clamps, however the previous clamps have left marks on the hoses. Will those marks affect the points in an NCRS judging?

Susan,

The C1 judging manual has good answers to many of hese questions. I would recommend using the Quanta - semi-gloss blackout paint for the engine compartment and wheel wells. This was also used for the radiator support.

The radiator (and fins) were painted a low grade gloss black.

I would recommend changing your hoses for judging (at least the upper one).

This will affect your condition score. Also, you might experience some problems getting the hoses to seal with the original clamps (since they were crimped (deformed) previously with the old clamps.
