In the TM&JG it indicates that '58 had a U shaped rod verses '59 and '60 had the tubular rod connecting the interior mechanism to the cowl vent. I have a very late '58 and it had the tubular rod in it. It had been welded down by the mechanism end where it is flattened out for the adjustment. Given this I assumed it was original.
I've looked at the AIMs and it isn't clear when it changed. It's hard to tell if the link is part of the cowl vent assy or the adjuster in the pictures. I assume it is part of the cowl vent since the arm is riveted to it. If so that part number doesn't change between the two AIMs I have. It is 3746104 in both. They do show different part numbers for the adjuster and brace. The two numbers are 3746106 and later it became 3752636. In both pictures the rod is drawn U shaped versed the tubular shape. The first part number is from a '58 AIM and the second is from a '60 AIM.
Does anyone know when the S shaped rod changed for the cowl vent link?
Thanks, Ted
