Here's the scenario....70 Coupe. Original L46 with 202 heads, 550 cam, Malory ign, 850 dual squirt and side exhaust. Color change from original. It is an original 14,000 mile all numbers matching, except as noted above, documented car. Drivetrain has never been out of car. The question is would this car even qualify for any type of judging as it is. Thanks
Chris
Car could be flight judged, probably end up being a 2nd or 3rd flight, Just a SWAG on score as you would lose all the body color, some ops points for idle, points on the carb, probably missing AIR, etc. If you drive it to the meet you can pickup driving points. Make sure every thing works, lights, wipers, etc. Some pretty big hits there
A car doesn't have to qualify for judging. Any car can be judged. You will get deductions for the things you mentioned and other things that might vary from the way the car was built at the factory. However, I would suggest you have the car judged and see what happens. This way you will have a good idea what is right and wrong with the car.
Best thing to do is have the local NCRS Chapter do a mock Judging event on your car to see how "original" it is. If in fact the interior's original and unmolested other than wear, it might qualify for a one Star Bowtie award. Just food for thought. Good luck, Gary....
Great idea..didn't know there was a 1 star Bowtie award. The car is totally original inside with little to no wear. Everything works including the clock!! Only thingfs that were changed are what I mentioned in my original post. Thanks
Chris
"Great idea..didn't know there was a 1 star Bowtie award."
There isn't.
In Bowtie judging, each of the 4 areas of the car (Int, Ext, Mech and Chassis) can receive a Star. So, you can have 1, 2 and 3 Star Awards. Technically, only a 4 Star Award car officially receives a Bowtie Award.
So, you might qualify for 2 of the 4 Stars and receive a 2 Star Award, if you so desired.
