    oil pressurization

Anyone know if it's a good/bad idea to prime a rebuilt motor (65 SB) thru the pressure gauge tap on top of the manifold, rather than by the oil pump (drill, tool down distributor hole....) A friend has done it on several motors and has good luck (but they were, umm, Fords)

    Thanks,
    Mark

I like the bottom up approach as it involves the oil pump. I don't know if the pump fills adequately from pressurizing a line.
