    Cowl Sealer 1970

Can anyone tell me if the sealer in the cowl area on each side on the car was applied before or after body color? If after body color does it have body color on it?

    Bart-----

There was no body color paint, at all, on the sealer on my original owner 1969. I'm quite sure that 1970 was the same.

Thanks. I was not sure since the car I have has been repaint. Is this the same for your car inside the door jam around the crowl?

I don't remember seeing any color paint on my original owner 1970 and since my wiper cover and grille are off the car just went to look and confirm what I have noticed since it was new. There is some gray primer type spray on both of the long arms that go from the wiper motor to the respective wiper arm locations. The passenger side has more than the drivers side. There is not of lot on either. There is also some light gray primer spray to the left and right of where the wiper motor comes into the cowl area. No body color.

I thought the plenum was blacked out when the firewall and windshield frame was done, and the wiper transmissions installed later.

From your description, Jim, it sounds like the wiper transmissions were installed before paint, and the plenum was either not blacked out or it was done incompletely. Is that what you conclude from your observations?

            Chuck -

I don't know a lot about C3's, but I seriously doubt if the wiper transmissions would have survived 60 minutes at 280*F in the prime oven; as I recall, they were installed early on the Hard Trim Line (after paint).
