    C-3 '69 Rear Axle rebuild

I have a '69 427/390 coupe (aka the money pit. well somebody has to step and restore these old classics). The original owner converted the rear from 3.08 to 4.11. Any input on how complicted and costly it is to get this back to the original 3.08? Also, any recommendations on rebuilders with great reputations and any other fixes that should be done during this process are appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Don

To convert back to 3.08:1 you'll need to replace the ring and pinion as well as the positraction case. At the same time, you'll want to replace the wear parts such as bearings and seals. Consequently, what you're talking about is replacing virtually all of the innerds of the differential carrier.
