Anyone know of a good (very good) place in southern CA to detail the paint on my '65 ? It is original paint and looks great (from about 20 ft away in the late afternoon). Just rebuilt the motor and interior is perfect so I need to get the outside looking a little better. Needs some very minor body work on the right front fender. I drive it so I'm not interested in a $10K paint job.
Mark,
If you are a do it yourself kind of guy, I highly recommend that you check out a book called Secrets of Corvette Detailing-Second Edition by Mike Antonick.
Chapter 4 has some excellent advice about salvaging original paint.
I'm in the same boat. My '69 was recently a victim of a hit and run. I'm going with a place called The Fiberglass Body in Hawthorne. Scott, the owner, is a nice guy that know his stuff and restores with an NCRS mindset. I will give you an update on his work once it is completed if you are interested - let me know.
Hi Rob. Excellent ! I'm in Torrance. Thanks for the info and I look forward to seeing your results. When are you getting the work done (i.e., when should I check the NCRS discussion board to see your thoughts) ?
FYI: Most of what I'm looking for is a good paint clean up. I got backed (hit and run !!) so I too have some minor body work needs. If only once we could catch a hit-and-runner.....
Cool - I'm in Santa Monica. I'm dropping her off this week - it is a small shop and I am waiting for them to finish with another project to make room for mine. Email me your contact and I will update you back as it progresses.
