    Re-assembly blues

Someone tell me that it will all start to fit a bit better after new gaskets start to form to the body... Starting to put the '55 body back together after paint anf the new weatherstrip makes closing the deck lid and trunk rough. It is lined up with the channels, just fatter than the old strip. Any hints on how to get the fit better? Or is it just a matter of time and patience?

    Mike,

New weather strip will "conform" with time. Heat (summer) may help some.
In the mean time you will have to close it like you mean it.

      Mike:
Make sure you have the correct weatherstrip! The trunk weatherstrip included with the kit I got was the wrong one. After installation, there was no way that the trunk would close. Finally got the correct part from the supplier and although a little hard to close at the start, the trunk now closes easily.
