Re: Chassis Painting
I had mine powder coated and then put the correct epoxy paint on top to get the correct finish. After chemically removing the rust from the inside of the frame, the powder can be blown, and will cling, to the inside of the frame. That results in a nearly completely sealed frame with a material that will not wick in moisture like paint. Doing it this was, you also don't see rust when you look through holes in the frame.- Top

Re: Chassis Painting
In general, you should stay with the same manufacturer's paint for the top coat to avoid compatability problems. Get the product sheet for DPLF epoxy primer from your PPG dealer to see what PPG products can be applied over epoxy primer. There are, in fact, few exceptions...DPLF is virtually a universal primer.
BTW, the specific product that Tracy recommended is dark gray in color. DPLF can be bought in several different colors including black, which is DP90LF. I'm sure Tracy recommended DP50LF rather than DP90LF to make it easier to see full coverage...chassis components are generally eggshell to semigloss black.- Top
