C1 heater box fan & motor rebuild

I have just disassembled my heater housing and fan unit on my '62. At this point I have a few quetions before proceeding.

    1. The cage fan is held onto the end of the motor shaft with a retaining clip and what looks like a spacer or collar. With the clip removed the fan is still tight to the shaft. Is this pressed on or just stuck?

    2. Are the fan motors servicable or a sealed unit?

    3. Is there anyone out there that offers parts for this unit other than seals and bolts? I have seen quite a bit for C2 and up blowers but not for the C1's.

Thanks in advance for the help. Eric

    Eric,

The cage on the blower motor is pressed on. Be careful with it, I think the hub on the cage is made of plastic. The pal nut just keeps it from walking off.

The heater motor is servicable, it has bearings and brushes which will require attention.

Mary Jo Rohner out in Poway California probably has what you need; 858 451 1933

Thanks Mark, I will check the material before I put much stress on it. The cage seems rather delicate so I don't want to bend it. I will check Mary Jo's catalog, I have one here somewhere.

In worst case I do have a complete second heater/blower unit but I hate to rob things from it. Eric
