Just ran across this item with some other C3 parts, need a little info on this, if anyone has any experience with these. It is a C3 Fuel Tank Separator, with the number 7028035 and letters SJ on it. I'm not positive, but I think it was removed from a 1971 or 1974 Corvette, many years ago. I believe it was originally used on all 1970-1974 Corvette's, with Evaporative Emission Control. The question I have is, do these normally rattle, when shaken? Sounds like a small ball bearing rolling around inside, is this normal? TIA. Dave

Dave and Dick------
What you're hearing rattling inside is the check valve. These things are designed so that if the car rolls over, the check valve will prevent fuel from leaking out. However, that's not the primary purpose of the device---it's just a feature imposed by the need to have such a device on the car. The separator was used on all 1970 Corvettes with EEC as well as all 1971-74 Corvettes. It's now available in reproduction. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
