Does anyone know the correct head marking for the 4 bolts that hold the spare tire housing to the frame in a midyear? The JG states that they are "black phosphate 1/2" hex-head bolts with intergral washers". However, there is no mention of head markings. Long Island sells a set with a cylindrical pattern on the head and Paragon sells a set with "LG" on the head. Neither have a intergral washer attached and both washers are seperate from the bolts. Also, are ALL original tubs date stamped with white ink? Is there a process to date stamp a reproduction or original that has been removed in cleaning with lacquer thinner?

Mine have an "E" headmark. They are black phosphate.

Here's what 's on my early '65
All 4 are the same.
Perhaps the "integral" washer part is an error in the '65 TIM&JG. What do other years' guides have to say ?

Wayne. My four black phospate bolts all had integral washers.

The '67 JG also calls for bolts with integral washers, but I believe that's incorrect; the 65-6-7 assembly manuals clearly call out bolts and separate flat washers. The ones in your photo are the correct type "AB" thread-cutting bolts.- Top
