53 to 55 Condensers Trivia sorry guys

OK it's still snowing and I'm bored ,sorry! like talking trivia and get a discussion going about parts??.

Again I see to many people using and thinking that the 53 to 54 side shielding condensers are the same as the Voltage regulator condensers . NOT! Top/L pic. Is 53 to 54 side shielding condensers with the retainer near the top .
Other three pic's for the Voltage regulator plate condenser retainer is lower at the middle area. Even the retainer holes are different , try a repro. The top pic.L/S repro guys sell as being all the same for the shielding and VR=53-54.
By the way the VR you see with the screws going through the lid is 53 to early 56 only design.Nice to see this mentioned in the JM? should I hold my breath??

I have never seen the ones in the picture showing three side by side. Maybe I've just been fortunate to only have 53-54 units??

The pic. Of the three to gather is the side shielding condenser only used for 53 to 54 ,I copyed the pic. from repro. dealers that sell the same design for the shielding and VR . The VR condenser design as you can see is different. But if you have the wrong ones don't worry the JM don't mention the difference, that's why I see many restored Corvettes using the wrong ones.I posted this to help people locate the right ones in case the JM later mentions them.
Sorry about not knowing numbers, I'm into what a correct part looks like not numbers because the same number is used for replacement parts and over used to sell repro parts.

Yeah, I picked up an NOS 55 regulator on eBay a few years ago after corresponding with you about what to look for. One interesting thing, it had a piece of red tape on the side marked

12V
12V
12V
12V

I guess to make sure the guys at the factory or dealership from confusing them with 6V units.

Reading one of my postings did help you, glad to hear you found one and yes they did come from the parts house with a red tag , like the first headlight bulbs having a sticker saying 12V because the 12V in the glass was missing. 55 used three different bulbs.

This is an example of what I was talking about seller saying they are all the same 53 to 55 , this one on e-bay is for the VR not the 53-54 shielding.
