    Service Parts Identification Codes

I recently acquired a '96. There is label in the jack compartment behind the passenger seat titled "Service Parts Identification." It appears to include all of the information one would find on a build sheet. About half of the codes can be found any options list, for example in Cor-Vette Specs. Examples of codes I recognize are AG1, AG2, LT4, MN6, 193, 41T. However I can not find an interpretation of many of the codes on this label. Examples of codes I don't recognize: BGR, C05, DL5, DL8, VM3, V73 and many others. Is there a listing available for all of the codes that can appear on this label?

    Thanx,

    -Floyd-

    Re: Service Parts Identification Codes

Floyd, These are called RPO codes, They can be found in many locations on the Internet. They can also be found in a booklet NCRS sells in the "1984-1996 Corvette Option Codes" Written by longtime NCRS member Gordon Killebrew who served as Technician at the Bowling Green Corvette Assembly Plant for many years. This is the COMPLETE list of option codes produced by the plant. Do you have some “unlisted” option codes on your car? They can be deciphered using Gordon’s information. Neat stuff. Softbound, 22 page booklet. Member..................$7.00

    BGR - Bowling Green Plant
    C05 - convertible folding top
DL5 - roadside service information decal
    DL8 - Outside heated mirrors
VM3 - information label, bumper impact standards
V73 - Vehicle statement, US or Canada

    Eric

      Floyd and Eric-----

Also, understand that may of these codes represent "non-orderable" items. They're just part of the "complexity of building cars in modern times". Many are driven by other options on the car or exactly where the car is to be originally delivered. Some may even have esoteric definitions even when you find out what the code represents.
