    fan clutch

    Can anyone tell me if the fan clutch shown by Volunteer Vett Products for a 65 L76 is correct looks nothing like what I have. There item # CL102.

    Remember...

    in that era (mid-year cars), there were two qualified vendors (Eaton and Schwitzer) and two versions of the fan clutch (SB=long shaft @ 1.8-inches; BB= short shaft @ 1.5-inches). The two suppliers had different GM PN's assigned to them (your copy of the AIM will show a primary + 'OPT' PN for each application) and the castings + thermal actuation mechanisms were distinctly different (Eaton= bi-metal coil; Schwitzer= bi-metal bar).

    Without seeing a picture of what the clutch you're considering looks like, I can't comment further. Certainly, on the Eaton clutch there were running changes over time (deals with the shape of the fluid reserviors on the face of the clutch) that distinguishes a factory original vs. service replacement version of the clutch...

      Based on their item photo, that clutch isn't even close to correct - looks like a Hayden or parts-store clutch. You want a GM #3916141 clutch - available from Paragon or from GMPartsDirect.com .

          I put on one of those ...141 fan clutches last autumn. Comes with German script on the back. But works fine.
