Have you looked in the owner's manual? Assuming the engine is OE configuration and has not been rebuilt with lower compression, use premium unleaded. All OE '65 engines required premium fuel of the era and today's unleaded premiums have nearly the same RON. Add 4-5 to today's PON to get the approximate RON.
Duke is using industry standard buzz words. There are primarily two ways to measure octane: the Research and the Motors method. RON= Research Octane Number....
Today's pump gas is specified a new way...the simple average of the Research + Motors methods and you'll see this called out at the pump (R+M/2) which is PON (Pump Octane Number).
