Headlight System Assembly "1965"

I have a few questions on the assembly of the headlight system on a 1965.
I have every nut and bolt on my work bench. So, what parts do I grease, oil or
not lubricate, and what type of grease/oil is recamended during assembly? Also, the 4 new bearings (2"approx.) have a 1/4"(approx.)hole on top of each bearing, the old bearings did not? Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

Dave:

All midyear headlight bucket rotating assemblies are essentially the same.

As far as lube goes, the felt seals/wicks must be saturated with motor oil then lightly squeezed prior to assembly (the excess oil will be further squeezed out when you tighten the 12 bearing-cap-to-header bolts, so be sure to wipe the excess from inside the nose after assembly). I lightly coat the pivot shafts and bushings with chassis grease in addition to the oil.

Inside the motor cases, I put one or two drops of machine oil, like "3 in one", on the armature bushings. Clean the worm-and-pinion thoroughly, and lube with a good, high melting point chassis grease.

This is a sure and easy cure for a slow motor, but be careful, the buckets may rotate so fast after this as to cause aerodynamic lift to the front of your car.
