The clock in my 72 has not worked since I've had the car. I have read the archives about removing the cluster and I have removed the visable screws, the upper pot metal and the nuts at the radio studs. It ain't moving. The archives mentioned two nuts. Where are they and can a human get to them? I have looked but they are not obvious. Any advise is greatly appreciated. Jim

Jim they are at the bottom of the cluster below the radio very hard to get to cars with out a/c you some times can remove the radio to gain access. You should remove the passenger side dash and map pocket this will also help. On most cars the nuts were not tightened very tight so you may be able to spin the nuts till there almost off then tilt the cluster bottom fwd and it should come out but be very careful as the top part is designed to breakaway. Cant stress that enough be very careful with it very fragile. Paul- Top

Jim the two nuts not visible are at the base of the guage cluster piece. If you have a Corvette vender parts book, take a look at their display of the guage cluster and this could give you a visual aid as to where the nuts can be found. The two nuts are located on the left and right bottom of the guage cluster piece where it meets the console. The two nuts as I have read do not have to be removed, only loosened enough to push the guage panel at the bottom back through the slot the stud bolts go through in the console. Earlier C3's had a hole, or least that is what I remember on my 68 and 70. The nuts on my 70 are a 3/8's star-washer/nut combination. To get to the nuts it is sorta of a stab in the dark coming up the side of the console with 1/4 inch extensions reaching the nuts, some may use a universal as well. Be careful in pulling up on the console to get your tools under the side of the console, it can be damaged. You will need to remove the two removable pieces that are forward of the main console. The guage cluster piece has a built in design to break and you can very easily break it in two places where it is the thinnest on each of the sides. Patience helps a lot.- Top

My 1970, Jan 29 build, has slots. 1/4-inch drive, meduium deep socket with a universal joint -- or medium deep universal joint socket if you have one of those -- should get it.
This is a place where the AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual) is handy. It has pictures of where you are going. Any work on the interior of a C3 demands the AIM. It is the worst awful place to work.Terry- Top
