I just purchased a 71 LT-1 today from the second owner that they've owned since 79, and I noticed that it has headlight washers. I can't find any option code for a 71. It's a very early car that was built the first month of production. Could it be a carry over from 70? Just curious.

The headlight washers were never an option. They were standard equipment for the 1969-E71 period. Early 1971's do have the headlight washers (through about early December, 1970 build). The car should also have a 5 port washer pump.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Headlight Washers
My 71, #6589, mid-January build, has the 5-port pump, cut off washer hoses as part of the vacuum hose 'bundle', a short (3 inch) piece of hose running between 2 of the ports on the pump, and no nozzles on the headlight bezels, but 2 holes on the vertical center of the bezel. This all coincides with the 70-72 Tech Manual. So much accurate information in such a small book!!!
