C# BB Manifold Bolts & Lift Brackets

Could someone help me out with the two bolts on the front engine lift bracket for my 71 454, are the two bolts that hold the lift bracket the same style of shouldered bolt as the rest of the intake manifold, and are they also the same A headmarking or something different. Also the rear lift bracket, what is the correct bolt for that. Were the two brackets on the engine when it was painted?

Some answers, and perhaps someone with an original will confirm, contradict and/or add the rest.

I believe the bolts for the lift bracket would be different than the rest of the intake bolts. They would, at the minimum, be slightly longer to accommodate the thickness of the bracket and the chances of their having the same head mark as the rest of the intake fasteners would be remote.

Yes both brackets were on the engine when it was painted -- in fact the engine hung from hooks through the lift brackets while it was painted. There might be some paint differences depending on whether the intake is iron or aluminum -- you don't tell us which 454 you have and it might help to know.

If you have a 1971 LS-5 engine, the front engine lift bracket bolts are 3/8-16 thread and 1 3/8 inches long. They have no shoulder, have an "M" headmark, and 3 hashmarks denoting they are grade 5. The rear bolt has the same external appearance, but is shorter as I recall, most likely 1 inch. I am the original owner of my Corvette and it has all the original hardware.

Pic of my 71 LS5. The bolts for the lift bracket are not shouldered. I believe this configuration to be original.
