The JM indicates that the oil fill cap should be engine orange. Mine is identical to the sketch for the supposedly engine-orange one, but is chromed. I've seen several others. Strikes me that with the valve covers chromed for the 350HP motor, that the fill cap could be chromed, too. Mine is #19310. What do the rest of you 68 350HP owners have?

Mike I have a chrome one on my original owner 327/350. Actually have an extra chrome cap, lost the orignal cap years ago and could not find it. Removing the starter several years back, the original cap was found. It was wedged between the starter and block.- Top

I have a chrome cap as well on my original owner 350HP 327 1968.

My car also has a cast aluminum thermostat housing, not cast Iron as the Judging Manual states. Again, this was a change for 69 that I suspect was put on the later 68's.
I am just at the master judge status and to date I have never seen a 68 350HP car at any judging meet I have attended or judged. I suspect that the high number of 427's has something to do with that.Jim Boudreaux

...both of my '68 350hp cars have the chrome oil cap.
