I understand that my '68 327-350hp should have chrome valve covers without the oil filler hole. When I bought it, the engine had chrome valve covers with oil filler caps, which I assume are incorrect. I have a chance to get some 327-300hp painted valve covers. If I had these chromed, would they be correct for my engine. Many thanks for the advice.

IF they are 1968-only 327-300 valve covers (or, even, most other 1968-only small block valve covers), they'll be what you need if you have them chromed. However, they MUST be 1968-only covers.
Bryan if you are refering to the 68 original 327/350 chrome valve covers having a oblong O on them, the 68's original chrome valve covers have no script.
Jim,
I'm referring to a little oblong o that is stamped on the topside of the flange area. I've got an extra set laying around the shop. I'll post a pic.
