Bought an original working expansion valve. The capillary tube with the probe is not long enough to connect to the highest arched part of the tube as shown in then AIM. The expansion valve is located on the correct bracket and the capillary tube from the expansion valve to the POA is the correct length but the probe capillary tube isn't long enough. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Re: C2 67 A/C EXPANSION VALVE
Hi Terry:
Is the bulb on the end of the capillary tube straight or is it formed in the shape of a "J"? Original 67 Corvette bulbs had the J shape.
This basic expansion valve was used on all GM cars, but the tube length and bulb configuration varied. Typically, though, the incorrect versions have a longer tube and a straight bulb.
FYI, attached is a photo of my 67 evaporator before I rebuilt it. You can see the capillary tube coming out the bottom. As I recall from when I rebuilt the unit, teh tube was just barely long enough.
