    Battery Disconnect

Does anyone know if the Battery Brain ( http://www.batterybrain.com ) qualifies as a battery disconnect for judging purposes, if it has the remote disconnect fob?

I'd give it full credit during judging.

        Paul,
It was posted on the Corvette Forum. I like the idea of not having to open and close the hood to disconnect the battery plus if you are out somewhere you don't telegraph that you are doing the disconnect by opening the hood.

Would also be cool if it came in 6 Volt!

            Judges?

Judges, what do you think of this product as a battery disconnect? Do you see any reason not to accept it?

            Thanks,
            Rick

              Re: Judges?

The only drawback I can see is one of the reasons for giving bonus points for fire extinguisher & battery cutoff switch is their safety impact on the juding field. How would we actuate the cutoff in an emergency presuming the owner has stepped away from the vehicle and it's THEN that the switch needs to be thrown?

That's one of the reasons SCAA requires cutoff switches to be mounted on the OUTSIDE of race cars in a clearly visible position.... Allows course/corner workers to shut off power in emergency situations.

Jack brings up a good point. I'd want mine accessible for anyone to throw in an emergency.

Maybe use this cool gadget on the + terminal, and also add a throw switch on the - terminal for anyone else to kill in an emergency.

I'm thinking that it's not made in a form for side terminal batteries, so 68 and later it won't work.

                      OK.
I don't know if I've ever judged one.
At least not in recent memory (obviously).

Even more so then with a 68 - I can't imagine a top post AND that electronic disconnect fitting under the battery compartment door.

I've never seen the key bob switch but Painless Wiring has a remote battery shutoff that uses a switch you install wherever you want. I'd hide it under the dash.
