    Windshield Moulding Retainer Clip Update

A few days ago, I posted a request to verify a GM part number for 1964-67 windshield outer lower moulding retainer clips, and Joe Lucia kindly obliged. The clips I purchased from Zip Products look very different from the originals, and I have been advised by some, that they MAY cause moulding installation problems. I called Zip (who I always enjoy dealing with) and asked their parts manager if the clips are GM issue. He told me that they are not, and that they are manufactured by Car Pack (or Car Pak?). I ordered a set from Chevrolet, and will let you know what they look like when I get them.

By the way, this is in no way meant to criticize Zip Products. On the contrary, their sales staff is very knowledgeable and courteous, delivery is prompt and, for the most part, their merchandise is of good quality (although some items may not be authentic enough for that Duntov candidate of yours).

    Joe,

When I replaced the winfshield weatherstrip in my 67 conv, a couple of months ago I got a set of clips from Chicago Corvette. They looked like the originals and fit like originals and have no interference complaints. They even came with the new screws.

        Don:

Looks like Chicago Corvette buys their clips from GM. Some guys just go for the good stuff, although sometimes you just don't know. It has happened many times that I order a part from my "highest quality" supplier, only to open the box, find junk, return the part and order it elsewhere. Go figure!

3904931 is the number in the 67 assembly manual. Seems strange that this is the number that superceded the other one (unless it superceded a number used on earlier models....) Just wanted to make sure that its the correct number.

              Brandon:

Yes, 3843939 was used on the earlier models. In 1967 3904931 was used, and this superceded the earlier 3843939 clips used in 1965-66.
