    Distributor Cam Lubricant

    Hi Folks -

OK, it's been more than 20 years since I last replaced a set of ignition points. Doing that today and find that my 25- 30 year old tube (once thought to be a lifetime supply) of Niehoff distributor cam lubricant is old and dried up.

Wondering what is commonly used nowadays to lubricate the points rubbing block? MY FLAPS says he "never heard of it"......imagine that!

    Regards,
    Bob S.

    Bob -

When I buy points, there's usually a little plastic capsule of lubricant in the box with the points; I also have a tube of Blue Streak "Lubricam" points cam lube I've had for about 30 years that looks like it'll last another 30 years.

      Bob------

GM #12338672, aka Delco U1901. Beware, though, this is an item that comes to the dealer in a case of 12. So, since this is an item they won't want to stock, they'll make you buy the whole case. Unless you have 11 other friends that need some, this will be way more than you'll want.

So, if your dealer does not stock it and wants you to buy all 12, ask him to check his locater for other dealers in your area that do stock it.

Good idea Joe. I'll give it a try.....I definitely don't need 12 tubes!

Points Lube & Distr. Shaft Lube

Forgot I even had this Delco Remy stuff. Tub of lube can be used for tach gears and shaft. Points lube is an earlier part # than Joe L. shows.

Trouble is, I don't have a points car

Wayne - Shame on you for teasing me like that with those pics!!!! HaHaHa.

Anyway, Joe's idea worked out. This morning after visiting my local Chevy dealer and getting a list of all dealers in the continental U.S. with the points lube in stock, I called and was able to mail order it......only 'extra' was $5 for UPS....no biggie.

              Regards,
              Bob S.
