Hi Everyone,
Plans are coming along nicely for the Motor City Regional, May 15-18. I thought I'd give a quick update and answer a few common questions.
We are pleased to announce that Reeves Callaway will be our special guest and speaker for the Wine and Cheese party on Friday evening. This will be a "can't miss" event for anyone attending the Regional. This event will be held at the private automotive collection of Ken Lingenfelter and features 150+ of the most expensive and exclusive cars on the planet, including many Corvettes. Many other Corvette dignitaries (read: former and possibly current chief engineers) will be in attendance. For the benefit of all, transportation will be provided to this event from the host hotel.
Additional details for the Milford Proving Ground tour have just been announced. Upon arrival (after the group breakfast) we will assemble just inside the main gate and proceed to Black Lake where we will get a tour of a new building there and overview of the Proving Grounds. GM will put on a special driving demo - with Corvettes of course.
After the demo, GM will give us a handout for the rest of the driving tour. Our professional photographer will be "staged" in at least one, possibly two locations around the track in order to get the best possible photos of each Corvette. We will exit the Proving Grounds about 12:00 noon. Corvettes may then proceed home at will.
In an unusual move, GM has decided to ALLOW us to bring cameras to the Proving Grounds. This is a very rare treat in today's world of secrecy and security!
Both of these events are "can't miss" in my opinion. If you have a Corvette at the Regional (judged, driven or otherwise) you really should try to make the Milford event on Sunday as this opportunity might not return. I can still recall my visit in 1992 with our National meet and very much look forward to May 18th.
Registration forms are downloadable from our newly redesigned Chapter web site (link below). In addition there is a direct link to the special reservation page for the host hotel (Doubletree Novi).
Please let me know if you have any questions.
See you in May!
