I'm in need of a correct Oil Pan for a March built 69 BB with Power Steering. Is this still available from GM if so part number please; if not where can I find an alternate supplier. NOTE: I plan to get the car judged at an NCRS event.
An oil pan for your application is currently available from GM under GM #14091356. This pan is virtually identical to the original oil pan used in your car except that it does not have the 4 corner rail reinforcements which were spot welded to the original pan. These re-inforcements can be purchased from reproduction sources like Dr. Rebuild. They do not need to be spot welded to the pan since they will be held in place by the oil pan retaining bolts which pass through them and no one will know the difference.
Otherwise, you will need to seek out a used, original pan. The 1969 Corvette big block oil pan used a part number unique to 1969 which was GM #3955106. However, since Corvette oil pans do not have part numbers stamped upon them and since I know of no way to distinguish this pan from other Corvette big block pans, about the only way you could get one is to pull one off a known original 69 big block. Finding an owner willing to allow you to do this could be difficult.
I'd recommend using the GM #14091356. With the added corner reinforcements I really don't think that anyone could discern this from an original 1969 Corvette big block oil pan.
