Is there a source for reproduction standard shocks( for judging)? My car has Monroe-matics that were installed in 1983/ Thanks Jim Carmain

None that I am aware of. The closest you can come is to use current issue Delco Gas Charged shocks, remove the labels, and paint them shock absorber gray. The external configuration of these shocks, at least as of the last time I purchased some, was virtually identical to the originals except for "numbers".
If the configuration of the above -referenced has changed (which I doubt but it is possible) then use the following:
GM #22046803----front
GM #22011967----rear
The above are non-gas cushioned shocks so they won't perform as well as the gas cushioned. However, their configuration, except for numbers, should be virtually the same as the original shocks if the current gas charged are not. You will need to paint these gray, too. I followed this same advice from Joe about two years ago. I purchased some "shock absorber gray" paint from Quanta and sprayed them (after taking the stickers off). They look and perform beautifully.
Here's an excerpt from Joe's original post that provides the GM part numbers:

You could buy a set of Delco Reactec shocks. These shocks are available under GM part number 22065208 (Delco # 560-50)- front and GM part number 22065207 (Delco # 560-51)-rear. These shocks are virtually identical to the replacement original shocks described in 3, above, and, consequently, VERY similar to the original shocks.
They are also supplied in black and have small labels on them. You remove the labels, clean the shocks with acryli-clean, and paint with Quanta's shock absorber gray paint. Then you have a set of modern technology, gas charged shock absorbers that look VERY similar to the original shocks supplied on your car when it was new, sans the original "numbers" and "dates".

One last thing. I purchase GM parts over the phone from Tom Henry Chevrolet in Pa. They'll give you a 10% discount if you mention NCRS and the parts man (Stan) is always VERY helpful. I have no interest in this dealership. They have just always gone out of their way for me.
BTW, Stan has kept the old parts catalogs and he enjoys searching for hard to find part numbers (like someone else we know).Comment
