September 12 Muncie is correct. Assuming it is a 325 case, it would be for model year 64 or 65. So it could be 9/12/63 or 9/12/64. If the date code is located by the front cover is will be for model year 64. If it is located along the vertical rear flange, it will be for a 65.- Top

Looks like a circular router was used to provide a flat surface. This appears to have started at SOP Muncie transmissions for '65 MY, when they switched from driver side cover lower rear corner ('63-64) to passenger side, as part of P-o-P introduction. Earliest I have noted is P0806 (August 6th). I haven't seen any later that Sept 16th, so far. At that point, they probably figured the grinding was unnecessary.
BTW; P designates Muncie 4-speed for PASSENGER CARS. There were other Muncies: M = 3-speed truck; N = 4-speed truck.
