    Q-jet part number

    Does anyone know the part number for the piece that goes into the back base of a carburetor on a Q-jet for the vacuum line are know of a source for one?

    Kelly,

    You mean the piece that is the connection for the power brake vacuum line?

    I've purchased them at the local auto parts store.

      Yeah that is it Patrick,

      Thanks I have my core at the rebuild shop an it had a plug in the base. I guess at one time someone had it set up for a none power brake car.

        Don't throw away the plug. They're useful for non-PB cars, as you noted. I keep both fittings around here for the next car that might need them.

          That is a tubing thread to pipe thread adapter. It adapts the female 1/4"(?) pipe thread in the carburetor body to a female 3/8(?) tubing thread for the tubing fitting.

          As Patrick says, that fitting should be commonly available at auto parts stores. Because pipe thead sizes are closer to the ID of the pipe, and tubing sizes are close to the OD of the tube, it will be a good idea to take the old fitting (or the carb and the tube) with you for comparison rather than rely on estimated sizes.
