{C1's had extensive chassis blackout, using cheap, sticky asphaltic-based paint sprayed out of 55-gallon drums next to the line.}

My 57 I restored I did do it that way "again" and my 55 had this. My 55 when I restored it don't ,(the JM) so why don't the JM not mention this to day?
Curious minds wont to know!!

Roy, I have no idea about the '55 JG (or later C1 JG's) relative to the extensive chassis blackout issue; we know it was done, we know exactly how and where it was done, we have lots of archival photos showing it on the line in the plant, and I discussed it at great length with Phil Hawkins and George Barlos in '67 when I was at St. Louis. Not many folks want to cover up an outstandingly-detailed C1 chassis restoration with all that sloppily-sprayed ugly black paint, and most of it disappeared within a couple of years on original cars anyway.

Thanks, guys - amazing how quickly the 67th birthday passes by after a terrific steak dinner and homemade lemon meringue pie for dessert; don't feel any different than I did yesterday

Your right I agree too, that's what up sets me when they hit you over some bolt under the dash area not having the right Cad look saying that's not being ORIGINAL . By the way have a vary vary happy birthday I'm also 67 March the 4th .
