    Restoring sealed air cleaners

How does one go about restoring the C1 sealed air cleaners? I am thinking about the chrome plating for 55 and 56 air cleaners. How do you get it apart and back together for chrome plating?

Use some device to pry open the crimp edge holding the bottom plate ( dont need to open it all)and remove it the bottom plate, then re-crimp it shut ,pry out the insulation and get it chromed ,then mark the bottom plate as needed to cut away the material so that the crimp distance is removed so to just FITS the bottom plate again, use JM weld to mate them back to gather, PS. The bottom plate is painted a gray color . Find some insulation and reinstall it.
