    Seat covers 53-55

Replacing seat covers that fit like original pay attention to how they fit . I'm talking back cushions only. Original's have a rubbery foam material , if you find that it's getting a bit hard or showing to be dis-formed have your shop shoot wet steam in to the material that will bring it back to life and original form.
Top left is the original foam with the part# and company .
Top right and below is how the fit originally was with no GAPS around the soft top lid.
Bottom left is what I to offen see being able to put my hand in between the cushion and lid .
Now I don't know if it's the repro seat frame, repro foam,or it's installed to tight but that's not originally the way they should fit.
PS using steam will save many original foam cushions.
The C2 original is the same type foam Part# click below!

Not that I know of, but if you have a worn one (rubber type 50-60's) take just the seat along to a shop and have them do it, cant cost much, they hit it from the bottom. I tell you it works great and brings it back to life.

When I removed the seat covers on my '57 I found the name "Edna" clearly penciled on the inside of the seat back covers. I don't know if she did it for posterity or if it was used to route parts in the place where she worked. I thought it was kind of cool to see that 50 years after someone wrote it where it may have never been seen again.

Just a thought...maybe the workers at the seat cover supplier were paid by the piece and Edna made sure she marked her covers clearly.

              Re: Seat covers 53-55

When I restored a '65 coupe back in '75, I sent the worn-out/torn black leather seat covers back to Findlay Industries (who made them originally) as patterns so they could make new covers for me. A month or so later, the new covers arrived, and there was a note from the lady who made them for me saying that she had also made the old ones I sent in .
