I am looking for a 70,71 or 72 so this car peaked my interest. It is a 72 "frame off" restored corvette convertible on ebay. It is at $33,000. It has power steering, power brakes, power windows and tilt wheel. The owner claims to have spen $30,000 on restoration. The car looks nice. The engine was decked when he had it rebuilt. There in no numbers on the engine pad. It seems to me like a lot of money for a non matching numbers car. Interested in your thoughts. Thanks, Joe

Re: 72 Corvette on Ebay
Looks like a nice car. He seems to have the pad stamp numbers. I wonder if the pad was photographed before machining or if the story is a load of BS. Also, it doesn't have the correct valve covers, does it? It has aluminum finned covers on a base motor.- Top

Re: 72 Corvette on Ebay
Looks nice (though pad decked), but I'd still never buy one without inspecting it or having a trusted friend inspect it.

Re: 72 Corvette on Ebay
Before purchasing two 1970 convertibles I did a lot of research on the '68-'72s. I settled on the '70 for several reasons, one was that the 1970 was a low production year and another the 1970 being that the HP rating on all engines was highest in that year and by 1972 the 454CI was rated at 270HP and the 350CI was rated at only 200HP. I recommend keep looking. If your intuition is such that you have reservations don't do it. For $33K and a sharp eye you can get a nice, well optioned big block convertible.- Top
